Is this possible, I have looked around and haven't seen any evidence one way or another other than in all the pictures is its blue. Additionally, is there any way to change the backlighting colors on any of Razer's mice, through software or firmware?

The LEDs in the Lycosa are all blue. If you really want you can unsolder them and replace them with whatever color you want, but it will be a real pain.

As for their mice, they have the DeathAdder which comes in blue, white and red varieties, the Lachesis which comes in blue or red, the Boomslang Collector's Edition (green), the Krait (yellow) and the Diamondback 3G (blue, red, or green). All others are blue only.

hey shroom... you know the DeathAdder White Mac Edition? You think it will work on windows if I download the DeathAdder Windows driver/software from the website? I am assuming they are the same exact mouse internally/hardware wise, I figure the only difference is the driver..

Yeah, aside from the white backlighting and the Mac software, I assume they're the same mouse. For the record, I don't think they've updated the Mac edition to 3,500 DPI yet, so you'll be getting the original 1,800 DPI model. Dunno if that makes any difference to you, but I feel I should point it out.

EDIT - even better, direct from Razer support:

cool +1. Yeah I highly doubt they will update the Mac version since the new 3500 version has Mac drivers on their website. I was considering the white Mac version cause it looks cool too!

I would get the Mac version, but they haven't updated the drivers for the windows version to make the drivers compatible with Win7. However the 3500 drivers are Win7 ready.

The regular DeathAdder Windows 7 drivers should work.

yeah but the software utility to change settings on the mouse won't be compatible.

of course it will be plug and play, is this what you mean?

ahhhhhhhhh it is compatible with windows 7 (driver v1.09). I was looking at the firmware update (v1.27, not supported by win7 yet). Did you ever have to update the firmware on your original DeathAdder... or did it pretty much work like a champ with no bugs ever?

Edit I'm guessing I can update the firmware on vista, and still install the win7 driver on win7?

I never updated my firmware, and never had any issues with the one factory-installed. I don't even know if they're different versions.

cool... well the white lighted version looks really nice... but the braided cable on the new 3500 makes it look like a $60 mouse. I'm a little torn right now picking between the two.

Was the cable on your old DA always all over the place? did it get tangled a lot? would it snag or drag when you tried moving the mouse in wide fast motions?

How does the braided cable fair? Does it get tangled as well and do you think it actually helps or do you think it's purely aesthetic?

I never really had problems with the old cable, but the new braided one is pretty nice. Less friction is always a good thing with mice.
