    Hi Everyone,

I have a Thinkpad T500 with a belkin slim backpack.

    Pros:

The T500 fits perfectly and has very good padding
Allows me to carry most of the accessories.
    zero problems so far
    Very slim

    Cons

I am going back to school and have to carry more than one textbook along with the notebook.
There is no pouch to carry a bottle.

I am thinking of getting a Dicota takeoff sport. Any opinions or suggestions on the backpack?

    Thanks in advance,
    Martin

I've been looking everywhere for the right bag and finally settled on the Victorinox Trek Messenger: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001H54IMI/ref=ox_ya_os_product. I'm getting it for my future purchase of the Sony Vaio FW. It's not very big but can hold some books (I haven't received it yet). Check out eBags and Timbuk2, they have some nice stuff.

Just recently I bought a Wenger Swissgear Synergy backpack. So far it has been extremely effective in carrying all my stuff. Without stressing the backpack at all, the main compartment can store 15cms of books. On the sides there are 2 mesh compartments to hold water bottles. The bag is also built extremely well and it doesn't appear as if it will break any time soon. The only con I've noticed is the look of the bag. Personally I'm not very fond of the excessively flared and masculine design.

Oh, if there's a Staples near you, they will return the equivalent price of the backpack to you in their staples dollars or w.e which can be spent at their stores.

When i bought the synergy, I looked at the maxxum as well and didn't see much in terms of differences. Mainly the synergy is slightly larger and replaces the open compartment with a zippered one.

I haven't used it through rain nor snow, but judging from my waterbottle its likely water-resistant, meaning if you threw it into a lake the inside would be soaked, but if its just a light sprinkle i don't think youll run into any issues with water getting into the bag.
