    Hi

After spending ages looking for and eventually buying a bag for a laptop, my parents came out of leftfield and got me a briefcase for my birthday. To be able to use it to carry around a laptop though I would want to be able to put the laptop in a sleeve. I wouldn't require anything too sturdy, as in a briefcase it would be reasonably well protected anyway - so price is my main consideration, but I would like it to be reasonably good quality, so that I could potentially use it in my backpack too.

My laptop is a 15.4" Acer aspire 5024, and I am shopping in the UK - any thoughts and suggestions would be welcome!

Hehehe! OK, price isn't that much of a consideration, I just meant that I don't want to be spending a fortune on something, that at the end of the day, is really very simple.

I bought my Sumdex ImpactGuard Sleeve from the U.S. store, and was very pleased with the quality of service and the product.

I have to second the Sumdex sleeves. I bought one for a Fujitsu N6410 and the fit was excellent and it provides that extra protection that I was looking for. I got mine for around $29 US.

I have a Tucano Neoprene Sleeve/Folder. I highly recommend it. Since you are in Europe you can buy online from Tucano.com directly. For a 15.4" notebook you should get the Folder 15.4 (there are three sizes 15.4, 15.4-XL, 15.4-XXL). And it is not that expensive.

Unfortunately the Tucano website is in Italian, and I can't work out how to get it in English, though I've found the sleeve elsewhere (though at the top end of my budget, so I'll look a bit further before buying).

ebags in the UK don't stock Sumdex products unfortunately, and I haven't been able to find any competitive pricing in the UK on it (yet). If I do though, I'll post here as a reference for any future UKers looking for it.

Edit: after checking out sizes, I have to get the XXL Tucano folder, which pushes it up to £25 plus p+p, which I consider a bit pricey really.

You can try ordering from the US or at Ebay you may be able to get a good deal. You can also try Amazon.com see if they can deliver to the UK.

I managed to find a cheap sleeve in the end, and am waiting for it to be delivered. The sleeve can be seen HERE, though that's not actually the shop I ordered from.

As you say, it IS already in a briefcase so it is protected. So all you want is something to protect the laptop from possible scratches while in the briefcase. How about making an envelope type thing out of bubblewrap or have someone sew something out of soft cloth.
