Can someone help me in finding a cheap external monitor??? I'm going to college next year and want a small laptop that I can bring to classes with me but want an external monitor for in my dorm but I dont really have the money to buy like a $200+ monitor. I don't need a big one, just bigger than the 12.5 inch screen on the laptop i'm looking at. I litterally have no clue how cheap eternal monitors go for (without being 20 years old) but the cheaper the better

    What size are looking at?

Here is a nice one: $159.99 with free ship (ends 6/27)
    Acer G245HBbd Black 24" 5ms Full HD WideScreen LCD Monitor 300 cd/m2 ACM 80,000:1 (1,000:1)

    Hannspree: $109.99 with code: EMCKDHG47 (ends 6/29)
    HANNspree By Hanns-G HF225DPB Black 21.5" 5ms Full HD WideScreen LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 X-Contrast 30,000:1 (1000:1)

    Viewsonic - $144.99 w/code: EMCKDHJ57, ends 6/27
    ViewSonic VA2248m-LED Black 22" Full HD LED BackLight LCD Monitor w/Speakers 250 cd/m2 DC 10,000,000:1 (1,000:1)

Be sure to check Dell's Daily Deals..they usually have decently priced monitors also :)

    ccmuggs13 Do you prefer 16 x 9 or 4 x3 Aspect ratio? Personally I would avoid refurbished.
What laptop are you going to connect it to?

To the OP, I know that my suggestion is not going to be popular, but you could opt for a nice 19" CRT. A CRT would be the least expensive option, and it would allow the OP to experience a true and accurate color gamut, a sharper picture, and let's be honest, it's not like his roomies are going to walk off with his monitor. ;)

I've got 3 of those on my desktop. They're decent monitors... a fair bit of color changing when looking at them at an angle, but not as bad as many I've seen. Definitely worth the price.

If you don't need to use your desk for anything but a monitor a CRT is great. But given every dorm room I've seen, space is at a severe premium and a CRT will just waste a lot of it.

is what I am using right now. Pretty decent. I got it when is on sale for $159. Some people say the viewing angle is bad but let's face it, when you are sitting down and using it you aren't going to move around every 30secs.
The screen is bright and it play games or HD mvoie just fine. Had it for over 8 months and no pixel yet. I don't use the speakers so not sure about the sound quality.
