Since I upgraded to the laptop below in my specs, I feel that I should take PC gaming a little more seriously. As such, I'm after an upgrade for the mouse I currently have but don't want to splash out too much.

I'm currently looking at the Logitech MX518 and was wondering if I'd made a good choice?

Don't really want to spend much more than that but any advice you guys could give would be much appreciated!

The MX518 isn't bad, but it's really showing its age; it's been out since 2005. It is definitely cheap though.

If you like its overall design and optical sensor, check out the Razer DeathAdder. It was recently re-released with an updated 3,500 DPI sensor and braided fiber cable.

If you have to stick with the same shape as the MX518, you may want to look at the G5 or G500.

    I recommend jumping on ebay.

I just picked up a Logitech G9 for 75$ CDN ...Dell sells them for 129$

I got it brand new ...only buy from Western nations ...China is making garbage replicas btw :)

If you want it cheaper, there's previous versions for 50$ CDN ..so 40 or so EUR

Umm... almost everything is made in China right now, even the original G9, performance MX, orochi, Abysus (less than 20 USD from OEM in China) etc, even macbooks are made in factory in China. The cheap ones are not replicas, they are simply OEM from factory.

MX518 is actually very good for the price, the newer ones from logitech are mostly wireless and sold at more than twice the price because of that.

Had my MX518 for three years. Superb mouse! The click pad stopped recognizing the clicks, though.

I now own a Razer DeathAdder and it's amazing.

    I would recommend the Razer.

The OEM version of Abyssus could be easily found, which is the mouse included in Asus G73, it costs less than 20USD.

Just bought my Logitech M950, didn't like it as much as the MX1100 because there's a gap between the thumb and pointer finger making it not as comfortable, if only the MX1100 has a micro receiver though, the receiver of MX1100 is simply too big.
