I was wondering if anyone could recommend me some good headphones for movie watching on my laptop? I'm not an audio snob nor do I watch a ton of movies on it, so I'm not looking for anything expensive. Under $50 is my budget, and the cheaper the better, bonus points to anyone who knows a good set for like $30 or less lol. I really don't know anything about them honestly. I just want something that sounds pretty good and simulates surround. My laptop had "Dobly Sound Room" from the factory, but I clean installed Windows 7 so I guess I may have lost that feature?

Anyway, suggest away, and audiophiles go ahead and cringe at that budget lol. Oh and also, please no earbuds/in ears. I've never cared for those.

I'd say have a look at Sennheiser.

Why not in ear monitors? I think some will offer better sound for less money, but if you can't wear them (because your ears hurt) then that choice is very undestandable.

The Sony MDR-XD200 has a 'movie mode' which basically closes it off more, upping the bass - however you can also turn it off for a more coherent performance overall when listening to music.

It should be well under $50 in most places - <$25 @ amazon for starters. It's not a wonder-phone for the money, but I happen to think it's pretty decent (and for context, my primary living-room headphone is about 600 times the price of the XD200 so I like to think I know a bit about decent sound). It should also be more comfortable for extended wearing than the sorta-on-ear HD202's.
