    Will this work? Or is there something slightly more expensive, but still workable?

    I just want a CD drive to install Vista Business, Office, and Adobe.

    No, you need a DVD reader. They are a bit more. I would suggest, if you do not have a DVD burner already on one of your computer, get the external drive with DVD burning capabilities. In the end, it will be only small amount more and it will help out in the future.
