I was just curious about what media everyone uses. I can get DVD-/+Rs at $0.40 a disc. I've seen Dual Layer Dvds at $4.00 a disc and Dvd+/-RWs at about $7 a disc.

Is there any cheaper Dual Layer Discs on the market then the ones I mentioned?

Also I have some discs that say 8x capable write but the fastest my burner can burn to these disks is at 4x even though it is capable of 8x burning. I was just curious if anyone could point on the reason for this? I mean it's only 15 minutes to burn a full DVD-R but I want to be able to use my burner at the fullest capacity.

Laptop drives are not as fast as their desktop counterparts. I had a Panasonic UJ-845, it burned a 8x DVD in about 13 minutes no matter which discs I used. They only burn a small area of the disc at 8x whereas a desktop drive will almost the whole disc at 8x. I heard if you use Taiyo Yuden discs, you can get an 8x burn from the ND-6500A in about 10.5 minutes.

officemax recently had a pack of 25 dl dvds for $100.

I know they usually don't burn at faster speed as the desktop counterpart but I would expect it to atleast get up to 6x/closer to 8x.

I just think I need to try a different media because it might not like the memorexs I'm using now.

MY DL external drive burns DLs at only 4X. DLs in the stores are usually 2.4 X. I am sure the internet has the 4X available.

Thanks. I will check office max.
