As my new plasma doesnt have any other audio output option as optical (toslink) and i miss good bass that i had on the previous tv with my old speakers i want to get new ones and need suggestions what a cheap option would be - either new 2.1 speaker set with optical input or is there maby a way to hook up my old speakers somehow?
I also need a remote control for volume as i understand it cant be controlled through the tv sadly.

Have you considered using a convereter like this - Gefen, LLC - GefenTV Digital Audio to Analog Adapter

and using just regular analog input speakers..

The converter its self is expensive but perhaps you can find a cheaper alternative.. This would be perfect if you already have analog input speakers lying around..

Problem with that is id have no remote volume control (old analog speakers also dont have a remote). Getting up every time i have to change volume doesnt sound attractive...
