I have been using my Thinkpad T42 for about a month and a half now and the keys are getting a bit shiny [8D] and there are some fingerprints on the screen as well.

As the crazy person I am, I plan to take out the shiny keys and wash them... if I take the keys out of the keyboard carefully, there shouldn't be a problem right?

As for cleaning the screen, I have been just using those cloth for cleaning glasses. Any other suggestions?

Monster makes an LCD cleaner that has a non alcohol cleaner and a mocrofiber towel. It's mainly for LCD TVs, but I use it on my laptop and have no streaks or scratches. I bought mine at Circuit City.

I use the Monster cleaner on my T42 and desktop LCD as well. I got mine at Radio Shack, for those of us living in rural areas.

I was robbed by a sweet little old lady on a motorized cart and I didn't even see it coming.

Well just use like a pen and gently lift up the keys from under, they come off pretty easily.

As long as you are gentle nothing will break, but I mean unless you are anal like me, some dirty keys should be fine [ :D]
