Anyone know how to make it not automatically switch to the external monitor automatically when I close the lid? Pretty annoying when I close the lid to go sleep and the external monitor takes over instead of going into power-save mode.

    (Preferably without going into sleep/hibernation/etc)

No thanks, unplugging it everytime I go away isn't the reason I got an external monitor.

This is actually a good question and wouldnt mind seeing an answer myself.

It is very dependant on the os (and possibly in some cases drivers). I have 3 different experiences in xp vista and 7. In XP plugging in doesnt automatically switch that said changing the tv source doesnt disconnect in the os. In 7 it automatically shares the screens until the lid is closed and then goes native res, switching source on the tv set its back to the closed main screen. Vista asks and as long as u dont switch source while something 3d is going on ur okay.

XP and Vista running Dox 182.05 Vista also running as well as 7 running DOX 185.85. ATi cards might also have a different story ive always hate them switching sometimes they click in and out several times before setteling.
