i've been looking over some notebook locks for my e1705 on the net, but i'm really clueless about them

does the e1705 have a.... lock port? (or whatever its supposed to be called :p). i've never actually seen a notebook lock before so i have no clue how they work. on the pictures i saw online the lock portion of the lock all cover up the port so i have no clue what it looks like. does all the notebook locks use the same port? i see a little hole thingy on the left side of the laptop towards the monitor, is that the port?

also, what kind of notebook lock do you guys recommend? i don't absolutely need a bulletproof lock or anything like that. just a decent one that will keep the lappie safe and hopefully deter anyone from trying to steal it :D

Yes the e1705 does, it's called a Kensignton lock. It's a little oval shaped slot, probably on one of the sides. I am moving this thread to Accessories where You'll get more help in selecting a lock.

    thanks for the linky.

is there a way for me to search through the accessories reviews on this site? the only link i'm able to find is the "notebook review" link and that well.... contains notebook reviews

i was planning to use my $35 dell concession coupon so i narrowed it down to two locks. dell apparently offers free shipping and handling at the $50 mark (S&H is $8) so i'm slightly leaning towards the alarmed one because i'll get more "bang for the buck"... but i think its just a little too excessive :p i guess i'll mull it over for a bit before i'll buy it.

lucky you, i did a review of the alarmed one here
if you have any questions, feel free to ask since it's a bit more complex than a standard lock.
