    Hi all,
I've got a 4 pin s video (tv out) port on my laptop and want to connect it to my tv to extend my desktop over to it. Is this the cable i would need?

edit: I went to local powerhouse and was told i'd need a cable from sv outport on laptop to port on tv where antenne is plugged in and a seperate one from laptop headphone to tv red and white. Is that correct as they said there was no other way.

That cable would work. That isn't the ONLY way, but it is the easiest and least expensive.

They said you need 2 cables because S-VIDEO only sends out video. If you want to hear audio, then you must use a separate port to send it to the tv.

You would only need 1 cable like the one in the picture, because it has them both.
