Hello everyone, I think it's neat playing consoles on splitscreen mode without having to worry about keyboard problems or cramped space for multiple players on the keyboard.
So how is using a wireless controller or two for the laptop, do most PC games recognize them and is it fun?
-
I would get the XBOX 360 controllers. They are quite well done and work well under XP.
I have an adapter for the PS2 and XBOX controllers. Not that I use the PS2 controller, but they both work fine. The adapter was fairly inexpensive also.
I'm not sure how many PC games let you have 2 players. Or split screen. The only games I can think of are Worms.
What games are you looking at trying to play? -
I have a mod for the original doom which enables splitscreen. I can't think of any other single computer FPS's without researching the subject, but I looking to play racing/top down/arcade/RPG's, ect.
And it looks like purchasing two XBOX 360 controllers would be fairly expensive, but as you said the adapters are cheap. Is the reason why you don't use the adapters because they aren't very nice quaility? There are alot of generic ones on eBay, but I'm not sure how well I can trust these! -
Ah, Doom 1 splitscreen would be fun :-D
No, I don't use the PS2 adapter because I don't like the PS2 controllers. I only use it when I play GTA (button placement is better than the Xbox controller S for that game).
Yup, the 360 controllers are pricey, but the best you can get (IMHO). But now that I think about it, I think you have to use the wired ones, and those are like, $30.
I don't remember where I got my adapters. The one I got for the xbox is a simple one. You know how you can remove the end part of the controller? The part that connects to the actual xbox, well, you remove that and the adapter looks exactly like that, except it has a usb end on it. -
There is a list of same player computer games here, so it dosen't look like I will have trouble finding any.
Do you think it would be worth spending $5 or less on this ebay ps2 to pc adapter, I have 2 ps2 controllers and the adapter claims to fully support xp, and it has two controller slots.
Thanks for the help so far! -

i just got a usb adapter for xbox 1 controller..Its actually a after market xbox controller i had which is smaller then the original xbox controller...works perfect..but if you dont already have the xbox controller,,i would suggest buying the xbox 360 wired connector...its 30 bucks at target, walmart or any other department stores...Its build quality and feature set is far more surpessed then the controllers made for pc..
btw the drivers for the xbox360 controllers are easily found on google search.. -
I myself use the XBOX 360 controller and let me tell you, it's the best controller I've ever use for PC so far. As for driver you don't even need to search, just plug it in the USB port and it will prompt you if you need to install the driver. Choose install from the internet and it will install the latest driver (driver that came with my Xbox 360 controller are dated)

My housemates and I bought a pair of Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2s to go with our Media PC for playing old SNES/NES/Genesis games while sitting in the recliner enjoying a cold drink after class
It's basically a clone of the PS2 controllers. None of us own consoles so we didn't see the sense in going that route. -

Just going to say this... I play n64 roms split screen with friends... since i have my laptop running s-video out to my tv in my dorm room, and the sound hooked up to my stereo, we get some quite intense games of mario kart, mario party, and goldeneye. -
I got my ps2 to pc adapter today, and Serious Sam is very fun splitscreen with two controllers!
