I was checking some video on youtube, and saw a new cooler not sure if its better than whats available on the market like the NXZT Cryo, but sure seems a lot like Asus G73, seems is starting to hit retail, COOLER MASTER SF-19 Strike Force Notebook Cooler $79.99, seems expensive but also has an USB3 hub, so might play nice with new laptops, and a 12V PSU with a fan rpm controler, twin 140mm fans and lights if you are into that.

That is REALLY expensive... I'm from china and I bought one last month for about CNY70. Exchange rate is 1USD=6.5CNYish. Anyway, I like the one that I bought. My computer is not soooo hot anymore
-
Looks like G73 co-notebook cooler! Cool!
Do G73Jh supports USB 3.0? -
What's the point of USB 3.0 if most laptops don't have it?
-
finally! i've been waitin for a laptop cooler manufacturer to build something that will rival the cryo LX. maybe NZXT will finally feel like they need to push out a cryo LX 2.0.
can't wait to see the results on how well the SF-19 performs with it's 12v power source. one thing i did notice, when watchin that video, was that the dang thing is LOUD! there's not much "customization" with those fans either. u can barely move them like 2cm from their original position. it sounds like an afterthought just to add to a spec list.
-
Hope Asus owner grab the right Notebook before leaving for work/school when in a rush,
looks like those fans are easy to clean when it get dust all over for months to come.
I brought the CM notepal U3 recently and do felt that it's working great even though it's using a single USB to power 3 fans with speed controllers. -
The only thing it really rivals is price. -
If my laptop doesn't have any USB3.0, will that thing still works on a standard USB port? (Lol) I mean, any difference?
-
-
-
I think this one can rival it, i mean 3x120 fans on 5v against 2x140mm fan at 12v, i know at 12v is for sure audible but its rpm controller can take it down a fair amoung, the nxzt controller barely takes it down when you use a 12v psu. I might get one, i just cant buy from newegg, so i gotta wait for amazon to stock it.
-
-
Cant wait for you guys to review it~
-
Yes it is backward compatible with the USB2. I did some serious searching for a cooler and while not underload this cooler was better...However when they put the laptops under load the CoolerMaster 30$ cooler had about a 5 degree difference in cooling...So I passed on this and got the U3, let ya know when it comes in.
-
I just added a second video to the first post, and it has a G73 on it, he did ran some tests in case someone is interested, still not in stock on amazon,
-
Well i just pull the trigger, never appear on amazon =(, but through a 3rd party reseller, but its on the way, the only bad news is coming by boat to expensive by air to me, so probably early january ill post a review and compare it directly with the NZXT CRYO on my G73.
-
I have had this cooler for a few weeks and I also have the Cryo.
Temps wise SF-19 keeps the notebook 1-2c cooler than the Cryo however the darn noise that the SF puts out especially on high, is ridiculous. The lights on it are cool and the USB 3.0 is a nice but the noise level kills it imho.
Also, I hate the usb ports being located on the right hand side. Would be much better if they were in the back like the Cryo is especially since on my x7200 the usb 3.0 port is on the left and then I have to run a cable around the back and attach to the right of the SF. -
-
Not sure what V's it is running any way I can look to see? And I don't think it would out perform the Cryo in a 12v version.
-
Also the fans would be very easy to swap out. Does anyone have any recommendations for 2 quiet replacements I could try?

Soviet Sunrise Notebook Prophet
This is me hating on the SF-19. http://forum.notebookreview.com/6924913-post6.html
-
Higly rated by SPCR fans are Noctua, Scythe, noiseblockers and nexus, I think all have 140mm fans now.
-
Just bought 2 Noctuaa 140mm will have them tomorrow. Thanks for the recommendations.
-
The Noctua fans are amazing! But at 25.00 each they should be! The SF-19 on high is now as quiet as my Cryo and is doing a better job at cooling. worth a total of about 150.00? For me it was, but I don't see many willing to spend that much for a cooler when the Cryo is just about as good.
-
I don't know, this thing is REALLY bulky - at least with the Cryo LX you can fold it up and shove it into your bag with everything else (headphones, mouse, rolled-up mousepad, Xbox controller) but this, I'd get nothing else in that pocket, OCD and superior packing skills notwithstanding.
-
Ummm which cooler do you prefer more on Asus G73 this SF-19 or Cryo NZXT? I'm planning to buy an upgrade on my CM-U2 and I'm about to get Cryo NZXT (it's decent and cool), but I saw the cooler's fan placement (upper-mid) might not reach much on G73 grills (lower-mid)? I like both tbh.
Is SF-19 better than NZXT or not that much?
Thank you. -

Why are you reviving an old thread xD? There's a sticky for your woes my friend! -
^
I read about that but not much about SF 19....
Maybe I'm getting SF 19 lol...newer. -
I wouldn't recommend it. You said the fans on the G73 are on the middle to lower. I'll take your word on it, and if they are, you should find a cooler that has the fan ports on the middle to low part of the cooler (whole point of the stickied thread). Best bet would be to take a picture of the bottom vents, PM me, and i'll try and find you a cooler, but an old thread isn't really a good place to converse.
-
This is a fairly decent cooler. Doesn't work too well with my XPS 15 though, so I might try and mod it to redirect the air flow through the cooler so it cools of my laptop better.
-
my previous notebook cooler broke. Its tough to find a good cooler that fits a 17" laptop. This one looks pretty nice, think I might try it even if it is a bit costly... whatever keeps my laptop from burning my desk!
-
I have the SF-19 for a few weeks now and it is working pretty good. I like that you can swap on fans on this unit. Probably The Scythe Gentle Typhoons would be very quiet and do a great job cooling. You can move the fans around, but not very much. It is loud on high and one complaint is there is no on/off switch. So you have to unplug when done. Very solid build and I like the cable management holders it has on the back of it.

Eldaren thanks for the tip. Yes it does have a switch. It has some resistance, but does turn off.
-
So this has it's own power source? Can this be ran powered just by the usb by the comp? I have the Zalman nc1000 but plan on OCing and want something that has better cooling and I dont care about sound. Is this the most powerful one available?
