So, I just picked up this new Cooler master Sentinal Advance gaming mouse and I must admit so far, I'm quite impressed.

    Sentinel Advance - Cooler Master

The Weight system makes a huge difference as at the moment I prefer a slightly heavier Mouse but occasionally like to dial it down to get faster movements.

The build Quality is superb the package contains an extra set of rubberized feet for the mouse in the event that you wear through the stock set. The plastic is a matte finish removing all posibility of smudges and the Lighting scheme matches that of the M11x/M15x/M17x design.

The OLED display is nice to show you what DPI Setting you are currently set to and the on the fly button control to adjust the DPI is essential. This mouse also includes independent X,Y Axis control. What that means to you is if you have more than 1 monitor setup and require faster x axis response than you do Y you can set them up so that you can look around faster without affecting the way you look up and down. (does that make sense lol)

Being able to scroll through different profiles and change the color of the mouse from Blue to Red to Green and a few other colors is great as well because it lets me match my alienware profiles.

I've used Razer Mice such as the Orochi and the Deathadder in the past (and currently) as well as Logitech gaming mice and everyday mice. This however is (at the moment) my favorite.

This is only the beginning of the customization options offered. Once I've played with them some more I might go into it further.

And it doesn't hurt that canadacomputers.com has it for 39.99.

Check it out or let me know if you've ever used this mouse before.

I've been using the mouse all day and So far its been great. You can customize the logo on the OLED display to any image that you want. Right now I have it set to a little J design for my name. Pretty cool.

Its nice too that the cord is wrapped in a braided cover and it has a Gold plated USB.

The software seems to be very intuitive as well with creating profiles and managing them. not to mention flipping between profiles at the touch of a button. Can't wait to get home and actually game with the thing.

If you increase the DPI, does it mean you have to move the mouse further physically to cover the same distance on the screen?

I'm wondering about the ability to set DPI on the fly: does it consume more power, etc. I'm sure it helps aim at small spots easier, I'm just not sure why we won't leave it at the highest DPI all the time. I'm sure there's a good reason but I'm not a gamer

Increasing the DPI makes it so that you actually have to move the mouse much less than you would with a lower DPI. for example 1100DPI i move my mouse from edge to edge of the mouse pad it move accross the screen. with 5600 DPI if i move my mouse by just flicking my wrist slightly it can move the mouse accross the screen. Less movement of the hand more movement of the mouse. This is especially effective for First Person Shooter (FPS) Games.

In a game like Battlefied Bad Company 2. I find that a Lower DPI setting helps to control certain weapons better the lowest being the sniper rifle for most accuracy. I'll turn up the DPI setting for regular assault rifles and finally when driving vehicles with weapons like tanks the highest setting allows me to move those slower moving objects more effectively.

The ability to adjust DPI on the fly is crucial in order to achieve the above results. If i had to tab out manually everytime i wanted to change DPI settings it would be a real pain.

Most gamers won't really care about these things but for the truly hardcore it does make the difference.

Changing the DPI doesn't change any power consumption all it does it increase your movement to tracking ratio making less tracking required to cause more movement.

Why you wouldn't leave it at the highest setting all the time was answered above. (sometimes its just to "Twitchy").

Braided cord is indeed a useful feature, but a gold-plated USB plug? How exactly is that a "feature"? Sounds like more Razer-esque marketing gimmicks to me.

For once I find myself agreeing with garetjax here...I hardly consider a gold-plated USB connector a feature at all, let alone a necessary one. I love my DeathAdder as it is, but I have no doubt that its performance would be identical with a "normal" USB tip. ;)

On that note, I haven't seen you around here in a while, I've had nobody to troll! Where have ya been? :p

ya but remember.39.99CDN is what I paid. So its a nice added touch. Especially when the Deathadders still go for 40-80$ here and have half the features.

Real life calls bro. My father-in-law passed away recently, and at 32, just finished up at Penn State with a BS in IT. And trust me, you'll be seeing more of me around here now. =P

What do you mean, half the features? The DeathAdder has independently adjustable X and Y-axis sensitivity, on-the-fly profile/DPI adjustment, and even the gold-plated braided USB cord. The only things this has that the DA doesn't are adjustable weights (lost on me; I like my mice as light as possible) and an OLED display (more form over function anyway), and 5,600 DPI instead of 3,500 (which is more than enough anyway, unless you're running 3 2560x1600 displays at once).
Sorry to hear about your father-in-law...still, good to see you're alive and well. :)

Heck I own a Deathadder and use it at about standard mouse DPI. I just bought it for the superior ergonomics (it fits my hand/grip like glove).
