    Hey all,

Dunno why I was getting database errors before when I tried to post. Sorry for the trouble. Here's what I intended to post:

    ----------------------------------------------------
    Hello all,

From what I've been reading, there's a wide range of coolers out there, and a lot do very little to

improve the stock cooling solutions. I like what I've been reading about the Zalman coolers, but

I'll see what you guys have to say.

My girlfriend's D600 gets pretty hot. If you do a google search (or even a notebookreview.com

search) you'll see posts about them overheating. Here's two pics of the underside (not hers--these

were stolen from a review site, and one is actually a d610 i believe):

    (sorry for the large pics)

The bottom of each image represents the front of the machine. The front right of the notebook

(where your left hand/palm rests) is right above the harddrive and that area gets unsettlingly warm

sometimes. Last year we had a Dell guy replace her board because something with the Speedstep had

it stuck at 800 MHz instead of 1.6 GHz and I've always thought it must've been related to the heat

that this machine puts out. So with that in mind, and that she uses it for word processing and web

browsing (no gaming), and the (very) occaisional dvd, are there any coolers out there that stick

    out?

Quietness is relatively important on the "needs" list. Almost most importantly would be to remedy

that left hand/palm situation. Making it feel cooler to the touch is more important than noise, but

it is still a consideration. Also, something that doesn't look too gaudy would be nice too :)

    The unit measures 30.8mm/1.2” (h) x 315mm/12.4” (w) x 256.5mm/10.1” (d) according to Dell's

website, and has a 14.1" screen.

Thank you for making this a good inaugural post here at notebookReview.

The measurements for locations of fans like shown in the cooler guide will utlimately decide which cooler would be best for the as that is the only acess for air to enter the chassis
