Hey guys, I'm looking for the best cooler for my 17" beast. Most coolers don't fit it, and I cant seem to find one in stores that do. Brick and mortar doesn't cater well to 17" users![]()

I suggest that you check out some of the Lian-Li 17" notebook coolers, they are made from aluminum and work very well from what I hear. They are also stylish to match your notebook and come in black or silver.
Here are some links:

From the site:
"The Lian-Li NC-01 17" NoteBook Cooler Pad is another elegant aluminum product from the respected case manufacturer Lian-Li. Designed to fit 17" wide notebooks, the NC-01 features a useful document gripper, adjustable fans (so the cooler can cool the hottest parts of your notebook), an integrated wrist support and an adjustable body. Those look awesome. Thanks for the links. The only thing I'm worried about with those is the aluminum lip scratching my laptop? Anyone have any experience with this? Or am I just being a baby?
-
The edges are rounded a bit to prevent scratching, I wouldn't be worried anyways.

Good deal. As always, thanks again Airman. Saved my butt more than a few times. I owe you one man.

It's all good, hope you like it

Alrighty, after reading and researching, these are the two I came up with. Keep in mind that my fans are in the back of my laptop and blow air out the back and slightly out the bottom.

Which one is going to be the better buy? -
I'd go for the Cooler Master Notepal, because its quiet and effective. Also, I've never hear of Lian Li notebook coolers before. Besides, the Notepal is cheaper.

Thanks for the advice.

I was looking for a cooler for my E1705. I went with the ilap from rain design. It doesn't have any fans though. I was going to get the Lian Li but the ilap had a larger platform. My laptop does run slightly cooler though. I am satisfied with the quality and design. I will never take the laptop off of my desk so I took the front pad off the ilap. I highly recommend the ilap. It is the most expensive of all at over $80 out the door.

80$ dollars for something that doesn't have fans? -
I do not think I got ripped off. I wouldn't have gotten it if I thought it was a rip off. I've seen pretty much everything out there for a 17" laptop.

I was more interested in raising the notebook to a better viewing angle and my number one concern was the stand platform was large enough. This is the largest laptop platform for the 17" notebook available. I didn't want to purchase one of the others and decide it didn't like it. I am satisfied with the iLap and am glad I bought it.
This next analagy is a little off topic but you will see how I think. Years ago I bought my first computer chair and it wasn't very comfortable. In a year or so I got a new one for almost $200. It was better but after several hours it was so uncomfortable I couldn't stand it. I didn't want to keep on doing this so I bought a Herman Miller Aeron chair. It was about $850 delivered and I've had it for about 7 years now. It is the most comfortable computer chair I ever sat in. I would buy the same chair again. I don't mind paying for something when I know it's the best possible product for my needs.
So rather than buying a notebook cooler I was a little skeptical on I decided to go with the iLap as I new it was the best choice for me. For other people it may not be and that is fine.
