Hi, I saw these 3-fan cooler pads on the internet, but as I never used one I wanted to ask how good they are and how affective for the laptop, do they really cool it? ..I saw one that comes with 4 usb port hub, so just wanted to know some opinions on this item, is this a good accessory for my laptop?

Most notebook coolers are ery effective. They allow cool air to circulate under the notebook, and generally increase airflow under the notebook, were there is very little distance. They can help the temperatures out alot. This is because cooler air is sent to the heatsink inthe notebook, and so it can expel more heat. A three fan cooler is a better one, since tere is more airflow. Some two fan ones are also very good. Hope this helps.

I bought this notebook cooler today: Zalman ZM NC1000. I'm very curious how cool will my notebook be when summer 2007 comes.

Thats a very good cooler. It very good looking and has a few good features. The temperatures should be pretty cool in the summer, but they won't be less than the temperature of the air in the room.

I bought it cos in the summer the HDD gets pretty hot; despite using Notebook Hardware Control, I'm unable to see the CPU temp (I have a Toshiba Satellite M70-340 Centrino with a Pentium-M 1,7 GHz), but 52-55 degrees Celsius for a HDD seems like a lot! Thing is the notebook gets kinda hot just around the HDD position (under the touchpad).

I'm also curious if this cooler helps even when in passive mode (no vents working), but I doubt it, since there's no direct contact between the notebook and the aluminium pad...

Of course, I tried the cooler - even if there's no need for that now - and I'm happy with it: in about 5 minutes the HDD temp goes down about 4-5 degrees (Celsius).
