I was wondering if anyone knew of a good cooling pad for a Dell M1210. I was wondering for cooling pads, is it better if the pad sucks the hot air away or is it better if it actually blows air onto the laptop? I heard some people say the Targus was pretty good, but then I also hear it's not that great because it doesn't blow cool air onto the laptop, rather is sucks the hot air away. Anyhow any suggestions?

it really depends on if you laptop pulls air up from underneath and vents out the sides or pulls air from the sides and vents out the bottom. From the pics I have seen it appears the 1210 vents out the side. Might I suggest the Spire Pacific Breeze notebook cooler which blows air along the bottom of the notebook. Has greatly improved the heat dissipation on my 17" Toshiba.

Yea the m1210 blows air out on the side...I heard the spire pac breeze is really loud, is this true? If so, is there a quieter one you would suggest?

If you get this kind of info, generally speaking larger fans with lower RPMs are quieter.

to be honest I can't hear mine at all, and it isn't because of the fan in my laptop because that doesn't come on at all. The Spire has 2 speed settings and I have it on high most of the time and I really don't notice it at all.

I c, how heavy is the pac breeze? any other specs for it? I was wondering if there was one where I could use it as an actual pad to sit on my lap or something
-
I would say it is less than a pound. about 10.5" wide and 3.5" deep. You rest the back of your laptop on the leading edge of the pacific breeze.
-
aww so its not a pad? Is there one that's a pad where I can just rest it on my lap?

You may try looking at the coolers offered by Coolermaster if you are looking for something that rests in your lap.

Thanks a bunch, I'll keep my eyes open around

Be carefull with pad coolers. Some notebooks pull fresh air in from the bottom, other from the side. They have also been know to burn out usb ports if using them to power the fans. Besides they will greatly reduce your battery life if using on battery.
If you are have a cooling problem it always better to correct the problem than to ignor it, or put a bandade on it. You actually needs to clean the lint from the cooling system on a monthly basis. -
it's a new comp, so I guess i just wanted something to blow fresh air into the bottom since it draws air from the bottom...but the problem is when I do graphic intensive things, it gets quite hot, so I need to fix that...any suggestions other than cleaning? Cause this comp is like <1 month old
