Okay, so I bought a cooling pad for my E1705 Dell Laptop and I have a few questions about it.

First, it is much smaller than my laptop, so I want to know if you can still use it on your lap, or if there is versions of cooling pads that will like hook onto it.

Also, if the above does not exist, I was wondering if it matters where you place it under your laptop.

Thanks for your help, it is very appreciated.

mmm.. my suggestion would be to place it in the middle of the laptop closer to it's back so that you don't cover the laptop fans and can still take heat away from the components in that area.

Someone told me to use two decks of cards to prop it up on a desk... so with a cutting baord and two decks of cards and that fan progarm, which name escapes me at the moment (others will certainly know) and then ditch the cooling pad :D

Your notebook sits on the cooling pad - I would place it in the center, because the notebook will be the most stable that way. The E1705 has the RAM in the bottom center of the notebook, so the pad should be pretty effective there.

Make sure your pad has correct airflow being in the center of the laptop. If it's not made for the size of the laptop, it could just impede airflow more than help it.
