Is it recommended to get one? My laptop is now my primary computer since i gave away my old crappy desktop and saving money to build a new rig. And the left side gets somewhat hot after prolonged use.

A cooler will prolong the life of your notebook my keeping the components cool. It may also make your notebook operate more quietly since the fans wont have to kick in as much, if at all.

Get a quiet cooler, like the Zalman NC1000.
