I have an HP HDX18, (18"). I have absolutely NO experience with cooling pads/chill mats, but I know now that I really need one. I'm finding it hard to find options for the size I need. I have come across a couple, and they are the Cooler Master SGA-4000-KKNF1, and the Cryo-001b 19 (the same as the lx?).

    I need some help/tips/guidance please.

I have a cryo lx and it didn't help much more than a set of coolballs did to be honest. Although the extra USB ports are nice, I don't use it anymore.

If you can find a set of them and get a small USB fan to blow under the fan intake, you should be fine... At a desk anyway. Cryo lx isn't portable either.

Another option would be the coolermaster U3, the U2 is a bit too small.

    Could try repasting, too.

Per your suggestion, I have been looking at the U3. This looks like one I would consider. I am wondering if the notebook would over hang it though. I've seen some say it fits up to 17, although it's compatible with 19".

Is it normal for people who have notebooks larger than 17" to have to use a slightly smaller cooler? I like how the U3 fans are adjustable.

Should I have my laptop cooler running all the time that the laptop is on? And should I have it at full speed?
