Not sure if this would be better-fit for the accessories forum or the Asus forum but whatever.

I've looked through several threads on this forum about laptop coolers/cooling pads and they have presented me with a lot of options. I would like to know if any W3J owners have any experience with certain ones and if they have any recommendations for ones that work well with the W3J's size and 'hotspots'.

It needs to run fairly quiet and it would be even better if it had a USB hub (but not necessary).

I'm also looking for a cooling pad...has anyone tried the "Evercool Notebook Pad NP-101"? It's not the best looking, but with four fans I think it should do it's job pretty well. So, did or does anyone own one?

the problem with W3J is that the fan is on the right side and its not under the laptop.. so those notebook coolers can't really do MUCH althought they will help just a bit.. so i'm not really sure whats the best choice..

i was also looking at the lapcool 3 but i realized that it'll just be cooling plastic

I own one...it pushes 40 cfm and vents out the sides like I want. I wish it pushed air rather than suck it down...but I don't care that much. It keeps my e1705 about 3 degrees cooler all around.

however, if you're planning on picking it up with ur laptop and carrying it around....it bends and creaks a bit. I would be careful...but I dis connect it when I move around anyway. Its sturdy...just don't test its limits.

While lining them up with your intake vents helps....the main purpose of the cooler is to pass air around the case to take care of the stuff that isn't directly serviced by the fans and therefore heats up. more airflow around the whole thing keeps everything cool. But, like you said, "just a bit". 3 degrees was worth the 14 dollars I paid for it.

What about material-wise? I hear aluminum is better because it acts as a heat sink and draws heat away from the laptop chassis.

it does draw some away...but it has no way of blowing that excess heat off unless you have stronger fans....so once it's "full" of heat....it will cease functioning as a heat sink.

    Physics 101:
heat will from from hot to cold until their temperatures are equal.

you physics nerds....Don't give me crap about KE because I don't care

I just got a Bytecc aluminum cooler from newegg. it's aluminum and it has fans that you can reverse if you want to. The review should be posted either tomorrow or this weekend, but my temps dropped quite a bit all around.

How is the slant working out for you? I took a look at that Bytecc and it looks like a pretty good cooler but I'm a bit skeptical because of the slant. How much does it raise the end of your keyboard by?
