I was on tech support with Dell for 2hours straight trying to get the stupid external sound card to work with my laptop, but after looking over one of the instruction papers carefully I saw in bold print "For Windows XP Only". So why the hell would Dell sell a Laptop with Vista and that sound card as an option if they are both not compatible? anyone get this to work?

What sound card are you speaking of? The X-Fi ExpressCard sound card I know for sure works with Vista and XP.

I got this one from Dell with my notebook. Yeah the EXPRESSCARD SOUND BLASTER X-FI XTREME AUDIO NOTEBOOK. I tried like 1000 times with Dell support TWICE with the drivers and all and still could not get it working. Seems like it doesn't want to be recognized. I have Windows Ultimate 32-bit. Dell said I had a defective card and they want to send me another one, but I don't think its the card really.

The guy who reviewed the X-Fi here at NBR had it working on Vista. I don't know what the problem is. Sorry to hear about that.

Hardware thats not supported by vista! Whats next, pigs that like mud, cows that eat grass, birds that can FLY!

In all seriousness though, I'd ask dell for a refund.

the card probably just doesnt like ur computer. not joking, like some hardware just doesnt want to work with some computers. have u tried any other express slot hardware with ur notebook? might be the drivers for ur express slot. :/

Hmmm...I just got my card today and I am having the same problem as well. The card lights up and all but the computer just won't recognize the card is there. I'm going to try reinstalling everything again to see if that'll work. If not, I'll be calling Dell to get my refund.

Does anyone who has this card (and maybe is fed up with the Vista issues) want to sell it to me? I already have a built-in sound card in my laptop, but I'm looking for an external one to play around with having two concurrent outputs...

This thread is from a relatively long time ago, please do not bring back old threads. Also this is the wrong place to ask that question, you will not get much of a response to that here.
