alright so I just got my Creative Vision W today and I was stoked until I connected it via the USB 2.0 port and it didn't connect! I installed all the necessary software for it and have tried all my front USB ports along with my back ones and it still doesn't connect! I've also tried 2 different USB cables all with no success...it doesn't even charge via USB like it's supposed to. When I plug it in it recognizes it and asks me to install the software but I already have so no help there...
I've troubleshooted it on creative.com and still no luck...what can I do guys?

check in the device manager to see what it shows up as. try uninstalling it from there and then scan for new hardware and see if it shows up.

it shows up under the portable devices tab as Creative Vision W but it has an exclamation mark next to it...apparently there are no drivers for it...does it even need drivers?
-
i dont think it does, uninstall and click scan for changes

nevermind I got it...but not working still T_T.

go to the creative website support part and check for drivers. if there is none then can you try it on another PC? i have a creative Zen V and i found you can install it on other PCs without drivers and it recognizes it fine. i would assume the same for yours but you should check. it could be your Zen is faulty or that your OS is crapping out. My XP has problems with MTPs and the only fix is to reinstall XP

no driver updates, I don't have another PC available to me right now but i'll try it on my NP5790 when it comes but that's has a vista 32 bit OS so I don't know if that'll be compatible...
but heres's an update...The man down at creative told me to reboot the Vision W and now at least when it's connected to a USB port it actually has that charging icon on the battery bar...but the Creative Media Explorer program still doesn't recognize it as connected, at least I can rule out a bad USB port. -
it will be compatible. cant u load your music on it with a simple drag n drop? maybe a setting in there for how u want to be connected?

nope...it's mandatory that you use the software provided with the player.

I had the same exact problem with my Creative Zen Sleek Photo. I tried everything to no avail to get the creative media explorer to recognize the the player was docked. Until I popped in the stupid microsoft cd that came with the player and lo there were the drivers I needed! Ok so I don't know if that helps but I would recommend that you explore every cd that came with your W.

there was only one CD...and that contained the installation setup for the required software.

Isn't the vision W an MTP device? If so it should show up under windows xp or vista, if you are running some other OS then you might have a problem.
If you are using windows and it isn't working try downloading the newest Windows Media Player, it should be able to connect automaticly to the ZVW. -
