Can anyone give me the pros and cons on the messenger bags made by these two companies? Which is better made, easier to carry, nicer looking etc?

    Depends which model.

And I've only used the Crumpler 'VBM' model, so I'm biased.

    Errr....yea

I was considering the VBM, I'm also considering the Crumpler Embarrassment line and the Timbuk2 Commute line. I do like the fact that the Timbuk2 has a carry handle; I wish the Crumpler messenger bags had a handle.

Yea, that's one minor annoyance with the Crumpler, there's no handle. I have to grab it from the top with two hands if I wanted to pick it up if not by the shoulder strap.
