I finally got a new notebook bag to replace my included Asus (Targus) bag for my Asus Z70Va and I must say it is quite nice.
I visited the Queen St retail store in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and paid about 100 dollars after taxes.
It is a beefy bag, but not overly large.
Quality materials used to make this bag.
Many compartments, but these bags were built with Apple notebooks in mind, so if you have something else like I do you must make sure that it will fit.
My Z70Va barely fits, and the velcro strap that secures the notebook in its compartment JUST closes.
Only gripes are that the bag doesn't completely cover the interior, so the flap that closes the bag leaves the sides open to the elements.
So far with rain and snow I've been alright.
Another gripe is that it doesn't have a handle, but you get used to it quickly by just grabbing the bag by the strap close to the bag. Works fine.
The bag is very comfortable over whichever shoulder you use, and the provided padding is useful, but I don't use it because it's too bulky and doesn't like to stay in place. Plus the material Crumpler used for it tends to slip off of typical snow jackets like Columbia water resistant jackets.
The colours offered are really attractive. I bought the black one with a lime green interior.
The bag is a bit pricey considering there are many bags out there like Northface bags that are similar in build quality and functionality for far less money, but not many people have Crumpler bags and they don't scream out "I have a notebook in here!" so if security is an issue these are great as well.
Well that's my new notebook accessory purchase of the year and I'm happy with it.
If you're in Toronto check out the Queen St West retail store. I was torn between the black, grey, and brown colours.
I believe Bestbuy carries Crumpler bags, but not the whole line, so you must check out their original retail store.
Cheers,
Mike
