    Hello guys,

I recently picked up the Cryo NZXT Notebook cooler. The problem I have with it is that the USB ports within the Cryo will not work for my external USB keyboard or my external HD.

I can plug my USB mouse in, it work only if I do not plug in my keyboard within the four ports of the Cryo. The second I plug in my keyboard the mouse will stop working. The keyboard and hd works fine plugged directly into my laptop.

I use Vista 64 and I do get an error message saying USB device not recognized. Thanks

I'd say they are trying to draw too much power. Just an off-hand guess though.

I was thinking the same thing. My notebook is an OCZ Whitebook by the way. I would think the OCZ should provide enough power.

Right it provides plenty of power but that power is also running the three 120mm (90mm? can't remember which) fans. Quite a bit of power for two USB ports when you add in the keyboard, mouse and HDD.

I tried running only the keyboard on the Cryo USB and it still does not recognize the keyboard. So I am not sure if power consumption is the issue. It will recognize the USB mouse fine.

Try pluging in the cooler to a USB port on one side of the notebook, mouse and keyboard to ports on the other side of the notebook, sometimes ports near to each other are connected to the same bus internally (like a USB hub, power is shared).

look into this issue cuz regular keyboards and mice don't consume that much power.

try plugging the two cords, power to usb and usb to usb directly into the notebook. works for me. :) This way your giving direct power to the hub and notebook. The hub is usb 2.0 and I have no problems running a usb mini fridge a death adder my iphone and soon to be a megalodon headset with out any problems. ( hopefully with the last one aswell :))

I would return if nothing else. The fans take up power no doubt but, if it has usb ports etc should work if laptop is plugin to ac power. I can see having issue if you are working off battery.

the 2.0 USB ports in the cryo LX shouldn't have any problems powering yur regular USB-gadgets.

for what its worth, bigger fans usually spin at lower RPM's. don't get caught in the misconception that the bigger fans should be goin at 100,000 RPM's. they do not need to spin as fast to move air.

Thanks for the all the replies guys. I notice that if I plug my keyboard into the Cryo USB, it will NOT work at all. Therefore now I plug the keyboard directly into my notebook USB port and then I plug the mouse into the Cryo USB.

That is the only way that can have my mouse, external keyboard and notebook cooler to work at the same time.

For my external HD, it will not operate at all plugged into the Cryo. When I plug it into the Cryo, it looks for drivers to install only to find none and fail. When I plug it directly into my notebook, it boots up right away no need for installing.

I had hoped that it worked a little bit better than it is, but it is a minor inconveniene having to unplug this to plug that in and so forth when there are 3 empty USB ports on the Cryo.:confused2:
