Good morning all
I purchased this mouse the other day and it finally arrived yesterday. One simple question though, is there a way you can use the mouse without having to have the USB receiver connected to the laptop? I would've thought if my laptop had a bluetooth adaptor already then that should suffice to enable the mouse to be wireless but everytime I take the receiver out the mouse just stops working.
Is this how this mouse is supposed to be? And if not, can someone advise how I can actually have it wireless without the receiver being constantly plugged in.
Thanks!

Thats how its made. It only works with that large receiver. I certainly wouldnt consider using that thing with a notebook.

The only Bluetooth "gaming mouse" (and I use that term loosely) is the Razer Orochi. It's really a wired mouse that happens to have Bluetooth capability for when you want to do something other than play games.

Aha, I have a Razer Orochi but got the Cyborg RAT 9 instead to go with the new Alienware M17x I got. I like the RAT 9 though so I'll just stick with it!

I love RAT9's style but that USB receiver is huge , its like no wireless at all...well yea , like HeavenCry said , that's how it works.
I just ordered M.M.O 7 , hopefully this mouse is great. -
The R.A.T. 9 is not Bluetooth, and frankly, you don't want a Bluetooth mouse for gaming. BT connections are laggy; we're talking about twice the delay compared to standard non-gaming wireless, 14ms vs. 8ms.

Yea man. It's hard to believe but that is how someone actually designed this mouse to work. I had the same problem with the Razer Mamba. If someone wants a wireless mouse, they usually want it to be mobile. Correct? Why in the hell do I want to transport or have some charging station/receiver taking up space?
I mean seriously, I see absolutely no point in it whatsoever. All it does is add cost to the consumer. Don't even get me started on proprietary batteries.
It's not like these huge base stations are needed to make these wireless mice work better. Look what Logitech accomplishes with it's small "Unified Receiver". Hell, it is so small, you can barely even see it hanging out of the USB port. In fact, I can't even see it when using my laptop. Just another reason in my book as to why Logitech is a step above the rest when it comes to building a "Wireless Mouse". -
My point is, they're both great mice, and the G700's small receiver and lack of a dock does have its advantages, but it's not necessarily better in every way. -
I'm not quite sure what you mean by the USB cable not transferring data but I just removed the battery from my G700, removed the USB wireless receiver and plugged in the USB cable. Drum roll please..................Yup, still worked.
In the end, I'm sorry but I am pretty sure if you walked up to 10 people and asked them which method of wireless receiver they would rather use with their laptop, ALL OF THEM would choose a small receiver that stays plugged in rather than a base station you need to un-plug when it's time to travel. It just doesn't make sense to me and I really don't know why these companies are still using them a long with proprietary batteries. Maybe they just want you to buy more of their batteries? -
The G700 usb cable charges it and still allows the user to use the mouse while it's hooked up via usb cable -

Okay, I was misinformed, I get it.

The usb receiver doubles as a battery charger... so all is forgiven
-
Have to say I want one, but the dongle thing is a major off put on a laptop.

Get a Logitech Performance MX or a G700. The USB receiver on it is tiny. I love it.
