i used a Moromaster mobile power 150W inverter(looks like a coffee cup) for watching a movie during a 4 hrs trip. At the time, i were driving my vehicle, 3 friends was sitting on the back seat. The inverter work fine, pretty good gear.

Yea, an inverter plugs into a 12V DC source and provides you with an AC plug socket style output.

I'd recommend the inverter. can be used for other things as well - other electronics that you want to charge, etc.

I agree, Inverters are generally cheaper, useable for MANY things, and sometimes you can even mount them under your dashboard or hook them up to the battery directly if you know how.

Travel kits are good if you fly on those 1st class airplanes or expensive seats for the airplane socket.. but normally not many people use it. (Or are able to)

Iter, I have a Gateway MX6421. When I called them for a recomendation as to how many watts DC inverter I needed, they told me 65 watts. I bought a Radio Shack 75 watt inverter (their other choice was a 60 watt). They go for $30, and have a replacable fuse, LED, air vents, and can swivel. Works perfectly for my laptop.

Is there a special reason you got a 150 watt inverter? I'm just wondering if I'm missing something. Is your laptop a watt hungry machine?

    Thanks...

People get higher watts for maybe to power "more" then one item. Some people like to bring TVs, Game Consoles etc. So stronger the inverter, more items or higher power items you "could" use.
