I have been looking to getting a power adapter for my laptop (A Asus G50VT-X5) to use in my car but I really don't know what I should be looking for, any help would be appreciated.

You get what's called an inverter. You'll want one that's at least 100W capacity, possibly more if your laptop uses a 120W or greater power supply.
Only thing is, there are two types - modified sinewave inverters and pure sinewave inverters.
I've heard (and ASUS tech support told me) that mod. sine inverters can damage batteries/chargers in notebooks, but i've not been able to find any more info on that. << Can anyone corroborate this?
A 200W mod sine inv will set you back ~100 bucks (AUD), whereas a for a pure you'll be looking at ~300. -
Check out Vector, they have great power invertors. I have a 400 watt Vector, and it has lasted a good 5yrs now.
This is the one I have, it is great.
