I am still hunting for a great pair of headphones for DJing, Soundmixing which will last atleast 2 years & deliver pure performance.
I tested Sennheiser HD -201 Gaming headphones.
Really awful.
the cushioning is so cheap that u can feel the plastic magnet casing press against your ear.
Although they look good ..but i there isnt any reason why a gamer will buy headphones without Microphone.
Sound quality also Average.
I am looking for these now:
Creative Aurvana DJ headphones: Here
And the lower end of DJ headphones: Here

What is your budget? None of the Creatives you are looking at are worth even 5 seconds for mixing/DJing.

I am not a professional DJ.. just a hobby.. but i am going to use headphones for mixing Background score for a Friend movie maker.. the movie will be marketed depending on circumstances.
So i need great headphones which are as good as professional at affordable price.
So Aurvana by Creative seem pretty good.. they have reversable ear cups too & most imp. single corded..
my budget is around USD$70 .. which is SGD$100-110 -

Audio-Technica is known for audio quality and comfort. Unlike most other companies, Audio-Technica makes headphones made for DJs and mixing artists. Sounds don't include enhancements like consumer and audiophile headphones do, just a really crisp, clear sound. I've always been told you can't find more comfortable headphones than Audio-Technica, plus on top of all of that, they have a low impedance so they can be flawlessy played with pretty much any equipment without needing an amp.
Those are out of your budget ($120 from online retailers), but also check out this (which is available within your budget from online retailers):

Otherwise which is better Sennheiser or Creative?
Sennheiser HD-515 & HD-497 are also within my budget
Creative is Singapore brand so they mislead here with tons of marketing..
And my previous Creative HQ-1400 broke.. cheap quality plastic -
Any specific model? under $80 USD? -

I have a pair of 50$ creative headphones with mild noise cancelling that work great for when I DJ. The padding has worn down kinda fast though but I think it's because I wear them pretty much every day for like 5 hours at a time. The sound quality from them is great and the noise cancelling is noticeable but obviously nowhere enar the stuff on Bose headphones. These phones are also sold under the skullcandy brand - http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/proletariat-p-11.html?zenid=e4c6e734743f4d34e33d7ded45f16ff8
I have these exact same headphones only they're the creative brand and the phone cover is black instead of gold. Other than that no difference and half price. -
I DJ also. Nice to see somebody else share the same hobby on here.
But if I were you I would go with a nice pair of Sony's. Alot...And I mean ALOT of in studio mix engineers etc. use these

What Software do u use for DJing?
I use Virtual DJ & Fruityloops. -
Adobe Audition. I used to use Sony Forge though. Im not into production too much more into editing so I dont use F Loops.

Sennheiser HD280 Professional, around $100, best performance/price ratio
I used it for 2 years, not planning on getting anything different.
btw I also have B&O A8, Ultimate ears super.fi 5 Pro. the sound quality of HD280 Pro is pretty close to them -
Personally, my favorite headphones are the JBuds J2 earbuds from JLabAudio . I just got an advanced pair, they dont officially come out until the 28th of November on Amazon. I was lucky enough to get my hands on a pair of the Onyx Black JBuds J2 and they sound GREAT! You can get the details on them at Amazon (search for JLab J2) . Ive had them for a few weeks and theyre the best headphones Ive ever owned. They are extremely comfortable and very durable.

I personally do a lot of video editing (which involves quite a bit of audio mixing), and i love the Sony MDR-V6

got DACs, Portable amps, desktop Amps, HD555, HD205...lot of stuff now -
alright mr pro, what are some good headphones(non-earbuds) under USD$100?
-
Depends if you want open or closed. I'd go with the Sennheiser HD555's for open, although they come in at 110-120$. I'm sure if you shopped around good then you could get them for under 100.
-
What's the differene between open or closed?
(i'm a noob)

+1000 on the real Sony MDR-V6. I have several pair of headphones including high-end Sennheiser and AKG and for DJing the MDR-V6 is the king. I bought these back in 1990 and while I'm on the 3rd set of replacement ear pads they still sound as good as when I bought them. -
it reduces the sound pressure on your ears and generally audiophiles prefer open design because of low resonance and better sound acoustics.
Closed design can get uncomfortable as they dont let air pass in and out ..this makes your ears sweaty.... but Closed are good for noisy environent.
for $100 budget checkout Sennheiser HD555... they are normally $120 ..but u can get them for $100 online... -
Go for the Grado SR80s. Try the HD555s as well.
