Hey guys, hope this in the right subforum....
I have a projector in my office for watching movies sometimes and sit about 10ft away from the desktop that controls everything. Once I power up the desktop, I'd like to be able to use a keyboard with trackpad (like a laptop setup) wirelessly from the chair and have it backlit since the lights will be out.
Logitech has a nice one but it doesn't have a trackpad.
Newegg.com - Logitech K800 Black USB RF Wireless Slim Illuminated Keyboard
Logitech has a really nice looking one with a circular trackpad of sorts but only the hot keys are backlit, doesn't make sense!

Only others I've seen that are close are mini keyboards that are hit/miss with quality but the price isn't bad.

Thoughts or experience in this area?
Thanks!

Well after some thought, I think I'm going to just buy a nice backlit keyboard for the desktop anyway, and try one of those mini keyboards with trackpad for when I'm setting up to watch a movie. They're only about $40 and with windows, I only need the trackpad anyway to navigate the desktop and load things.
If the Logitech diNovo edge had all backlit keys instead of a few hot keys, I may have tried it even at the outrageous (IMO) price of $145. Maybe they'll offer something like that next year.
Found some nice products, just not one that had everything I want, at least not yet...
EDIT: One other question though, if I decide to buy the logitech wireless keyboard with its own 'Unifying' usb dongle receiver, will there be a potential conflict when installing/using a different brand wireless mini keyboard that has a usb dongle plugged into the same desktop and used in the same space? -
If you have an android phone I use this one Unified Remote
pretty sure there's an iOS equivalent for the iPhone as well.
this is what I use for my old laptop turned HTPC at home
It also works better than the remote I bought last year
which was similar to this http://www.amazon.com/CE-Compass-Wireless-Keyboard-Touchpad/dp/B004VPXLDI/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1324775878&sr=8-7 -
Google "Lenovo Multimedia Remote Keyboard"

Hey thanks guys, both are pretty cool options. But even with the Lenovo mini keyboard, will 2 different wireless devices plugged into the same computer in the same room conflict with each other at all? Or if it helps, will they work better if only using one at a time?
The times that I'd be using the mini keyboard when watching a movie, I wouldn't be using the full size keyboard at the desk.
My plan is this:
Full size backlit keyboard (wireless preferred for less mess) at desktop.
Wireless mouse (less mess and preferred).
Mini wireless backlit keyboard for remote use when playing movies in same room.
I can go the Logitech route and get the wireless keyboard and mouse that both use the 'Unifying' usb dongle without issue. But before I spend $30+ on a mini keyboard, I want to make sure it won't conflict w/the Logitech devices.
Update: 11pm- In the name of science (aka impatience/curiosity lol), I went ahead and purchased the Logitech wireless backlit full size keyboard for desktop duty and the rii mini keyboard since it was wireless and backlit (and only $30). With the cheap price, if it doesn't get along w/the Logitech wireless receiver/dongle, I'm sure I can find someone to buy it off of me and try something else...
We'll see (probably in a month with holiday shipping times haha)

They shouldn't interfere to much. I've used my Lenovo mini keyboard in the same room as 3 wireless logitech mice(each hooked to a different PC) and one wireless logitech keyboard. Never had any issues.

Cool, that's what I was hoping to hear! I also ordered the Logitech mouse that uses the same unifying receiver as the keyboard. Excited!!
I built a C2D E7200 based desktop (G'byte MB, GT9500 vid) a few years ago and ended up using my 6 year old HP zv6130 (using it as we speak) because of the crummy emachines keyboard I had hooked up to it. I never even thought of replacing the keyboard until recently, too bad my desktop is now obselete! -
Just an update (no pics yet):
Just got the Rii mini and the Logitech wireless backlit K800 in and have the Logitech MX Anywhere wireless mouse/K800 keyboard using the Unifying USB receiver and the Rii USB receiver plugged into the same usb hub and no issues with any of the 3 devices with all powered up and being used.
It's pretty cool when things actually work as advertised lol... -
Huh?? Thanks lol
Decent backlit keyboard with trackpad?
