Anyone using this mouse? If so, how good is it and is it fairly small? http://accessories.us.dell.com/sna/products/I_O_Devices/productdetail.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&sku=310-9154
Thanks

im using this mouse. it came with my 1720, its by far the most useful thing that came with the laptop (other than the power charger).
its pretty small, i was used to a big gaming mouse, its not very hard to get use to. within a week it will feel normal. the size does is however nice on the when carrying it and putting in in the laptop's bag, i think any bigger and it would stick out too much. the mouse is quite solid and well built.
and is very easy to set up(no drivers), you only have to set it up once and then it will automatically connect every time you turn on the laptop or the mouse, 10% it will refuse to connect so you either have to switch the laptop bluetooth off and on, or manually reconnect using the bluetooth devices.
but most bluetooth devices i noticed arent that stable when connecting.
there are also times these past few weeks that ive noticed that the mouse does get a bit "jumpy", and slow, but it only happens on my desk i think there is something interfering with the mouse, i have yet to figure out. and this is noticed under fast/heavy gaming motions.. -
I use it with my Dell Inspiron 1520, I also added it when I ordered my laptop. This mouse is great, I simply love it no worrying about lost adapters or wires to untangle. It was even featured in Ironman, the only down side to this is the batteries and some connection problems once in a while, its nothing hard to fix it. All you do is uninstall it and reinstall it back. Quick and painless. It also has a great battery life, I recommened getting a rechargeable batteries with it and one more thing don't, don't loose the cap! I lost my cap to my mouse and normal batteries won't stay in the **** thing but rechargeables do..

If it came with your notebook then might as well use it. However it is not worth buying. You can find a Logitech V470 at comparable prices online very often and the V470 is a much better mouse. The tracking on this is OK at best.

I have used the one that came with my wifes 1530 and I really like it. It is unusual for a mouse of that size to have that many extra buttons which I really like. It tracks fine and the battery life seems pretty good. I think its worth $20.

Does this mouse use batteries a lot and how do you recharge the recharable batteries in it? can you recharge them by plugging the mouse in or anything like any other bluetooth mice
-
It takes a single AAA. You can use rechargables but it goes through them sparingly just make sure you turn it off when your not using it.
-
surprised people say get a charger, my first set of batteries easily cleared 5 months, now that im using it alot more im not sure but i think these battries are in the mouse for 3 months..

Can anyone tell me the actual length of the Dell Bluetooth Travel Mouse? I like a compact mouse but it is very hard comparing online as sites often don't provide such basic information.
For what it is worth I have compiled this size list (dimensions in inches/mm)
Targus Bluetooth Laser Mouse AMB03US 4.1"/104mm
TeckNet PA-BTM02 Bluetooth Wireless Optical Mouse 3.5"/89mm
Iogear GME229B Tilt wheel Laser Mouse 4.0"/102mm
Targus Rechargeable Bluetooth Mouse 3.5"/88mm -
I have it in Cherry Red...would you like some pics??
If so, I can snap some quick ones

There are plenty of pics on the Internet but nothing to give the actual size. If you have a ruler you could just measure the length?
(I got into small mice after living in Japan - the Yodobashi Camera chain had a large collection of nice small mice by Elecom and other makers)
That gave me an idea - it doesn't answer the question for the Dell mouse but I can access their online site - with true Japanese attention to detail the link for each mouse gives detailed technical specifications including size (and that numeric part is easily recognizable and readable by non-Japanese readers)
http://www.yodobashi.com/ec/search/...83X+%81%40bluetooth&PrintSize=10&StartPoint=4
So I can add this to my list of mouse sizes:
Kensington K72330US SlimBlade Bluetooth Presenter Mouse 3.5"/90mm
Microsoft Bluetooth Notebook Mouse 5000 3.6"/91mm
Sony Vaio VGP-BMS77 4.8"/122mm
Sony Vaio VGP-BMS33/RJ 4.9"/125mm
Targus AMB08AP-01 4.6"/118mm
Elecom M-P2DURWH 3.7"/93.9mm
Elecom M-BT1BLRD 3.9"/98.3mm
Princeton PSM-BT1BU 3.9"/99mm
The last three seem only available in Japan. There are other mice on the Yodobashi site but I am not sure what names they are available under elsewhere. -
I also just bought the Logitech V470 as it seems to be getting good reviews.
So I can add my measurement of that:
Logitech Bluetooth Cordless Laser Mouse V470 3.9"/ 99mm -
To wrap up (in the hope this helps someone else shopping for a Bluetooth mouse) I also got the
Macally Bluetooth Optical Micro Mouse 3.1"/79mm
Previously I had an identical, but black, "MSI" mouse bought in China which I was very happy with. As a very heavy user I had to put it on charge most nights to reduce risk of twin rechargeable AAA batteries running out but I liked the small size. It is not listed as compatible with Vista but I have it working with it though I had to mess around with the drivers quite a lot and don't remember what I did. -
So how does these Bluetooth mice behaves when used sporadicly? I had a Targus that I just couldn't stand, it went in idle when not used for a while, ~30 sec, the you had to shake it to make come up frome the "coma", extremly anoying.
Was this just the Targus?
I now have a MS mouse with a micro fm-reciver, "plug and forget". Which works fine, but it ocupies one of the USB and I have bluetooth which I don't use for anything now. -
