I want to pick up a Dell 9-cell for my D420. I don't want to tool around with the Dell website. Where can I get a Dell laptop battery locally. Do local stores carry aftermarket batteries for Dell laptops, or do OEM's carry them?
Or am I stuck logging into and then waiting for delivery from Dell.com.

I believe there are quite a few options on ebay when it comes to Dell batteries. There are reasons for avoiding non-branded batteries--which are outlined in the battery guide, so know the risks going in.

I was looking on Ebay for batteries for my D620. I saw a new one priced at 1/3 of what it would cost at Dell. Is there a catch or a problem with taking a gamble? Especially, if I used Paypal?

You could get scammed if the battery is old and only holds a verry little amount of charge, it could also be faulty.

This is an example of a 'deal'. It sounds too good to be true, if it's new.

I have also seen a company named "Titan" that manufacture their own 'compatible' batteries.

I didn't see them on the better business bureau.
