Horizontal or Vertical lines? And is this from pluging it into your laptop or a Desktop?

I have a similar problem with my xps m1530 + dell 22' e228WFP monitor. The LCD on the laptop is all good. Something is wrong with the external monitor or the graphics card.

Normal text (in browsers or editors) is clear and good on this 22', but mid-brightness regions appear to be flickering. Things get much worse when playing 3D games. Stranger is that when I run it on battery, the flickering becomes apparently worse.

The graphics on this laptop is nVidia 8600m GT 256MB.

Please continue discussion on this thread. Ive deleted your cross post.

Check your refresh rates. That can cause flickering

Dell send me a dvi2hdmi cable (the external monitor only has a dvi cable) and its no longer flickering.

Thanks for the message. I've tried all the possible (59, 60) rates and it makes no difference. I guess there may be something wrong with the VGA portion of the graphics card.
