    Hi,

Do you know where it is possible to buy for the Dell E6400, a weight saver module, to put in the bay where there is the DVD player, in order to reduce the weight of the laptop ?

And do you know where it is possible to buy for the Dell E6400, an external modular bay where I can put the DVD player to use it externally ?

    Chris

You can get the weight saver module from Dell. If you haven't ordered yet you can likely get them to throw it in for nothing.

There currenltly isn't an external bay to use E-series drives in. I would expect one in not too long, since the E4200 is out. (they have one for the D430, correct?)

    Thank you for the information.
So I will get the weight saver (is it called 'E-TravelLite' ? if yes, I have found it now) first and wait for the external bay for E-series drives. Is the external bay called 'E-Modular Bay', if yes, then this product should come soon (there is a mention about it in the order form)

Dell has been, over the course of two E6400 orders and two orders for just an E/Travel Lite module, been unable to ship one that actually fits with the new Latitudes.

I think Dell has a wrong part number, or something.

If this little module is going to be a dealkiller, I'd be on Dell to get it right the first time. Not to mention the optical drive isn't that heavy anyway so you wouldn't save much...
