    Hi,
I have a new Dell Vostro 1520 and when i plug my headphones into the jack (i've tried two sets) no sound emerges. If i click on the Speakers/Headphones icon in my system tray and choose Mixer, it shows both the Speaker and headphones not muted.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Linda

If you are running windows 7/vista then you should try setting that as the default playback device.

Right click on the speaker and go to 'playback devices' and then select your sound card, it shouldn't be HDMI, or S/PDIF and make that default.
