Q: I have a fairy good desk in bedroom and this is where I plan to keep my laptop. I was thinking of putting a peice of glass over the desk to protect the wood plus it would help with heat right? Then would be my laptop cooler and then on top of that my laptop.
Overall Q is it a good idea to keep the system over glass?

A small slab of polished stone works even better, as long as the laptop's bottom isn't raised too high above either the glass or stone with it's rubber feet.

I don't understand what you mean by "as long as the laptop's bottom isn't raised too high above either the glass or stone with it's rubber feet."
You mean to make sure the rubber feet on the glass or stone so it doesn't slip?

If your'e looking for thermal cooling transfer effect for the glass to act as a heat absorber from the laptop's bottom, it will only act that way if there is contact or near contact with the laptop's bottom. If the feet elevating the laptop raises it above the glass to any degree, there won't be much thermal transfer cooling effect.

unless you chisled out spots for the rubber feet to go in thus allowing for better transfer and securing the notebook. However you may run into a problem with airflow and the fan.
