I have to carry a Lenovo Z61M to and from work every day, up and down stairs of the subway and escalators here in NYC.

As you know, the Z61M is a heavy computer. Therefore, I want to save as much weight as I can on the bag.

What kind of backpacks are the slimmest and lightest?

I still want good protection...but backpack slimness and weight are the most important factors...

    Thanks!

the targus gerney backpack i reviewed awhile back was fairly thin and light. it weighed less than my regular non-laptop jansport backpack, even though the targus had adequate padding. i would suggest going to ebags, searching for bags that fit your notebook and check out their weight/capacity.
