I have Windows Vista, Intel Core 2 Duo processor T2700 with 2 GB memory. Would Windows Blinds slow down my computer?

WB managed to crash my computer. I got WB4 for my (now gone) M140, and it never worked...it just crashed me and I ended up reformatting as the uninstall went weird too. Tech support tried to help, but they were clueless.

About a year later, I got WB5 for my nc8430, and it worked. But it was pretty buggy, and many of the WB5 skins I wanted to use I could not because of rendering issues. When I tried to get tech help for it, they didn't respond in over two weeks and I got a refund via PayPal.

    Personally, I'd avoid it.

Vista is still relatively new, so I wouldn't put too much stock in any program until a new revision or two comes out. Except for WB, which never seems to get it right.

Well I don't think I would do anything to Vista.. it looks nice as it is.

But for Windows XP, I use the UXpatcher to let me use non-certified themes for XP.. none of the slowdown from Windows blinds and accomplishes almost the same thing (just no transparent bars.. boohoo)

I've used several programs to change the visual style of XP, all of which seem to impact performance in some way. In the end, I gave up trying to make XP look like Vista. After all, how much time do I actually spend staring at the taskbar and window borders? ;) :D

R4000, as I stated I have my Vista stylee theme loaded via StyleXP (see monthly desktop wallpaper threads) and it uses no resources as I told it not to! Albeit you have to turn it on to use boot-up or logon screen skinning, but even then its a max 21,000k in task manager (what's that in mb? :p)

About 20.51MB. I guess that is not bad at all, provided it does not negatively impact the initial loading of your desktop on boot. Mine is already dragging (it seems to be the Kerio firewall), and adding other startup apps only amplified the affect.

5.5 doesn't effect performance of Vista.

I made my XP themed like mac os x once upon a time... I can't remember the name of the app though.

Well it added about 15-20 seconds if I remember, but that's with "load from startup on" for boot and logon screen skinning ;)

Once you've loaded a skin with StyleXP, you don't need it to startup ;) All it does is alter the uxtheme XP file. Which reminds me, check this place out

Windows Blinds slowed down my computer even during simple tasks. But there are many other skinning utilities so it isn't much of a problem.
