Anybody have these and ever take them apart for any reason or have resources on how to do it??

Its just 4 screws on the back, it should be super simple but I unscrewed them and the two pieces dont seem to want to come apart, my guess is I need to pry it or something because there frames snap together.

Anyways I got a cheap pair off ebay that were "refurbished" and I swear the left speakers woofer doesnt work but you cant tell just by putting your ear to the speaker much because I think the top speaker is just making the bottom move passively due to air pressure inside the enclosure.

Well I got the speaker apart without damaging it. Much like i thought it was glued together, and when I got it apart I could see why.

Many of you may be surprised to find that the "woofer" in the v20's is NOTHING as in literally a false speaker. There is sutch thing as a passive woofer, where you have one unpowered speaker in a box and let the pressure of the air in the enclosure power that woofer. However I used to design and build high end car aduio systems and the key to this was that the "dead" woofer was driven by other woofers so the frequency response was right and it had the correct amount of air moving. Mostly we did it tho for very small enclosures so that a single sub could preform as if it was in a bigger box, the extra airspace would allow the woofer that was powered to move more freely and not have as tight of a bass response as a totally sealed box.

Well the flaw in the v20 is that the powered speaker is a tweeter/midranger not a sub, so what little pressure it comes up with in the enclosure to move the passive woofer is not correct for what it should be. Its like basicly taking a sub woofer and running a crossover on it so that it can only play mid/high notes and no lows but even worse since its just passive.

Where in the specs or features of the V-20 does it say there is a "woofer".

For what they are, and I have them, they are a decent option for a very portable system. You're drawing power from the USB port, so you are going to be VERY limited in power and volume. But, when I am out using my laptop on battery somewhere and I want sound, they sound decent. HiFi??? Of course not. But pleasant sound? Definitely. You want more power, you want more bass, you want more volume, you will NOT get it from the USB port. Get something like the Z2300 or what I have at home for my laptop, the Z-4.

If you want 100+ watt amps, you have to have 100+ watts available.

Your so off base, this was not about SQ, I am just fine with that. It was about the use of a false speaker. Its almost like false advertising. It doesnt need to be there as it has no function and the incorrect use of a passive woofer.

They say 3" pressure woofer in the specs but the right term is passive. pressure woofers in the real audio world are ones that have very very long throw usually all spl and no sql for audio competions. I happen to have a set of pressure woofers from audiobaun right under my bed that I never used.

I have nothing to say to you, I made a point that I bet 99% of the people that own these speakers will find appauling or supprising, if you would rather be ignorant to the truth of things than so be it.
