BTW, prefer the Logitech style trackball with the ball on the side that you can control with your thumb.

I looked previously myself and the macmice thingy was the only one I found. It's kind of ugly, expensive and pales in comparison with the Logitech model.

Unfortunately, we trackball fans are a real minority and I don't see the major manufacturers coming through for us any time soon. It's a shame too, because I find FPS gaming is done best with a thumb operated trackball.

I agree with you guys, wireless trackballs must be the most neglected devices on earth considering that hardly anybody uses the touch pad. Have talked to Logitech and they say that once upon a time such a device was included with laptops but never became popular.

They could include a Logitech Marble Mouse in the touch pad location easily without interfering with the screen in its closed position. How? Duh! The ball in the desktop model is removable and thus one would simply remove it when done using the laptop. (I should apply for a patent for this idea...).

Cumbersome? No more than having the device in its present iteration, plus receiver and/or dongle in an extra pouch.

Meeces with USB dongles are truly wireless. All others are only semi-wireless since the receiver has a USB cable.

The Fellowes model mentioned above has a very small ball - I saw it at WalMart, albeit is not wireless.

Good news, there IS a dongle trackball by Global, from Singapore. After 3 inquiries (I am multilingual but Mandarin to me is something you eat...) I was told that the ball is 3/4 inch in diameter, too puny for my taste. Cost ist $ 25.- shipped.

It ain't the prettiest but is the onliest.... Have a look at it or wire me...

    Edit:

Although I am right-handed, I use my left with the track ball which makes the two right-handed Logitech "wireless" models useless for me.

Add my name to the list of folks who would enjoy using a BT trackball. Other than the Mac devices or the wireless Logitechs, I can't find anything.

They could also make it spring loaded so it simply "squishes" down out of the way when you close the lid. It could be done if someone really wanted it.

What about making one that uses it's RF throuh like the PCMCIA or the XPress slots. It would be better than nothing, and there would at least be no USB dongle hanging out the side of the machine, which is my main concern (well, that and not having to use a table).

You'd have to have a very tiny trackball then, given how thick notebooks are, and you couldn't have any components below it, and that's normally where they store the hard drive and PCMCIA/ExpressCard electronics and such.

For those interested in a wireless trackball for either hand, have a look at this one. I ordered it and it's already on the way. It has to be better than the touch pad.

Don't get hung up on the sophomoric English used in the their ad, they're trying....

If you have any questions, make sure to ask only one at a time for they get confused and you end up getting a weather report or recipe for Peking Duck.
