Ok when I play games like tf2, gmod, etc the side of my laptop near the battery gets REALLY hot. I mean I can touch it and it burns a little. I have an hphdx18t laptop. Would I need a cooler? the fans get really loud also. the problem is I dont think I can get a cooler because my laptop is 18.4 inches :(

you can get a cooler and there are some great ones out there, like the nzxt cryo that would fit perfectly your laptop or the sf 19 (something like that) from coolermaster.

however, the first thing I would do is to open the laptop and clean the fans

Google '18.4 laptop cooler' and you will see quite a few threads, products and suggestions. However, it sounds to me like there could be some other problem with the laptop because it should not be getting hot to the point that it burns. I would check to make sure the battery and the AC are in working order because either could potentially cause such issues. You might also want to check the thermal paste or reapply if feasible.

It gets hot after several hours of gameplay if that helps. Not like a few minutes. And I would clea my fans but I really dont want to open it and mess with something.

Then you should get a decent laptop cooler to increase your laptop's lifespan because heat is the awful enemy of computers. :D
