    Hi All,

My Manhattan Portage bag has a minimal amount of padding.

I have seen bags that have a lot of padding and are fat. Are these bags better in terms of absorbing shocks? Do better padded bags absorb everyday shocks better than minimal padding?

Do I need a good padded bag for everyday use?

    TIA

I would think padded bags are better at absorbing shock. And for everyday use, I would definitely get a bag with good padding.

Generally, yes, however, if you invest in a sleeve, thick padding is not a necessity.

This all depends on the amount of padding in the sleeve. Most thinner sleeves are only designed to protect a laptop against other stuff when placed in a briefcase or backpack. You'll need a well padded one for protection against drop and such.

Indeed, but some sleeves are pretty protective, like the Tom Bihn Brain Cell(which I own, so that's probably why...) :p

You want to make sure that you have enough padding so pressure can't cause damage. Also it helps when you are constantly moving your laptop around like I am at school. I bump into walls and stuff and I don't have to worry about my laptop breaking.
