I was using an Alienware TactX Mouse that came with my Alienware 18 laptop, but after only 4 months, the scroll wheel isn't working. so I took out my old Logitech Anywhere MX trusty mouse and plugged it in.
I notice from time to time, the mouse would lag/jerk a lot then it would become smooth again. Are all wireless mice like this or would me getting a Logitech G602 solve this issue?
This is on Windows 8.1 PRO x64 clean install with nothing installed but the drivers by the way

Darn... with all the advancement in technology, it's appalling that they cannot come with a decent wireless mouse that doesn't lag
-
Well its more input lag, and its really noticeable during FPS and such, but i'm sure most casual users wont really nice the delay.

Anyway, I just called DELL and they said the mouse is under warranty so it's all goodmikecacho likes this. -
"Lag" is a very broad and ambiguous term. What exactly is this lag you speak of? If it's input latency--a slight delay between hand movement and on-screen mouse movement translating into a general feeling of sluggishness--I'm not sure this is avoidable when using wireless mice. This is why wired mice feel smoother/snappier/more responsive and are always preferred when gaming online competitively. If it's intermittent freezes or drop-outs, this is not normal. It could be due to wireless interference, a bad receiver, being out of range, or conflicts in the USB root hub that the mouse is plugged into.
FWIW, Logitech has been the most reliable brand of budget wireless mice since I started using them on my laptops a few years ago. None of the 2.4 GHz wireless non-Bluetooth ones I own have ever given me any issues besides the inherent input lag, and it's not even so bad that I can't game with them on the go if needed, which is not shabby at all for $20-30 mice.
And the thing is, some people don't even notice or aren't bothered by wireless mouse input lag, which simply amazes me. These must be the same people who play with V-Sync on in all of their games.Last edited: Dec 10, 2014Ferris23 likes this. -

About v-Sync, I thought if u had it off then you see annoying tearing in the screen during fast motion. Although I noticed GeForce Experience always sets v-sync off for me on the games i play -

Most wireless peripherals are much more prone to connection problems then wired ones. But I find most of them are fairly reliable. Try it on different machine to make sure if it's a hardware defect.

There weren't many choices out there, so I took a chance and bought a G602 and my oh my! this thing is buttery smooth compared to the Alienware TactX and Anywhere MX I had!! Also there is 0 lag even though it's wireless
very happy -

With bluetooth, you won't be sharing that port with any other devices.
USB port coud be the reason for your lag problem. -

Get over it and move on. -
Check polling rate. Problem is the higher the polling rate the shorter the battery life.
Do all wireless mice lag like this?
