Do they make battery powered laptop coolers?

I tried googling it, but can't seem to find any laptop coolers out there that run on AA batteries. I'd like to save some laptop battery life and am looking for something that won't use the USB port. Thanks.

It draws so little current, you'll only save about 10 min* at most. I know as I have had my laptop on batt once or thrice, with and without my Vantec Lapcool 3. Bear in mind its not a adjustable speed model

    Vital stats
    1,500 rpm
    0.9v power consumption

*That's without legislating for whether I was paranoid :p

You could always undervolt and kill 20 birds with one stone. Longer battery life, no need for the cooler...

I never thought about undervolting (probably because I'm deathly afraid of frying my cpu).
I read a review about the Antec cooler and how it cost the reviewer about 20 minutes of lappy battery time. So either way, whether it's the lappy's fan turning on, or USB cooler, either way battery life is being sacrificed.
Wonder if they make a USB to AA battery adapter perhaps?
    (BTW guys, great avatars!)

Undervolting is different from Overclocking and such, the only risk you won't be in after undervolting is the CPU getting fried. It lowers power consumption and hence the generated heat. The only risk along with the undervolting is system unstability so you should run some intensive programs like Prime95 for a good time to make sure that the system is stable.
As for the AA batteries you can do it for yourself. The maximum allowed power consumption through a USB is (100ma to 500ma)*5volts = 0.5 watts to 2.5watts.
The cooler should work ok with 4.5volts.
But also post some info about your rig. you might not even need the cooler.

Yeah, a few AA's could do it, but unless you are doing something very intense, there is no reason to not just undervolt (its very safe, unlike overclocking). You just save all over.

Undervolting is a good idea, just do not set it to run at startup until you're 100% sure that it's stable at the lower voltages. Otherwise, you'll end up with a machine that won't boot.

    Thanks guys, two last questions:
    1) someone mentioned that a couple AA batteries would do it, but how do you mod the USb cable to attached batteries?
    2) is there an "undervolting for dummies guide" anywhere?

My lappy is a Dell XPS m1210, Core 2 Duo T7200, 160gb HD, 2 gig 667 RAM, NVidia Go 7400, wireless N mini card. Just love this thing!

You can find a dead mouse somewhere and recycle it.
Can you post a pic. from the cooler connector's format ?

It's a typical USB connection, like on the Antec cooler.
I've used those little RadioShack solder guns before to fix stuff in the garage, pretty easy if you take your time and don't use too much solder. What you have in mind?
