hi.. am using T510 in office and there is a nice docking station which I've got to use with it. I just go to office and just put my laptop in it and voila everything works - my mouse, keyboard and monitor.

I was thinking if we have similar thing that can be used with Lenovo B590 and Lenovo G50-70. I did a little research on amazon and found out that there is a thing called Universal Docking Station but there are so many models to choose from and the prices range from 20USD to 200USD.

One of the docking station is want is to be very simple, just connect LCD monitor, keyboard, mouse, wireless USB dongle and speakers - no fancy stuff

The other station that I want for personal use should have all the features (or maybe more if available like on Toshiba Dynadock Docking Station (PA3927U1PRP))

Please suggest which models should I purchase.

yout T510 probably is using a true docking station that hooks to a proper docking connector on the bottom. this is by FAR the best way. most everything else uses these irritating USB docks that can be very hit and miss. especially with video if you want to output anything past spreadsheets.

which laptop do you have so we have an idea of what connectors you even have please

B590 uses a USB dock only, it does not support advanced port replicators or docks
the G50 is the same. I would honestly say the Lenovo USB dock or you can try one from Targus with video outputs

Don't bother with a universal dock. If you need to have the dock on your desk to plug the video and USB into it, what is the point if you just have to plug in 2 USB devices and your monitor?

well - that is true but when the laptop needs to be moved, I'll have to unplug all the connections and then move the laptop. Just need a device which has everything already connected (like in a docking station) and then I can just connect the laptop and voila everything just works :)

To get the Dock you want, you will have to buy a different laptop. A true Business Class model.

well, I don't want a Thinkpad style docking station, just something like Toshiba Dynadock Docking Station would work. But which one should I purchase. Amazon and online reviews show different things - most important I think is the issue with USB...which is the main thing to connect this docking station with laptop...

None of them for your consumer model Lenovos will work like your work machines fully. You are stuck with USB connection docks only. Nothing else will work for you.

As noted above, you'll only be able to use a USB dock. Which, mo, are completely worthless (they're glorified USB hubs with terrible display connections). Unless unplugging a few extra USB cables and a video cable are worth $100 or more of your time...
