Hi,
Thanks for your time and help.
I have a HP probook 450 G2. I am trying to build a work station that would include 2 monitors and a docking station.
I am not completely ignorant when it comes to technology, but found it hard to find which docking station would work best etc.
Ideally, I would like a docking station that would allow me to upgrade my laptop at some point without the need to purchase a new one (if that's even possible).
As to the monitors, both will be used at the same time obviously. One needs to be 27" or larger, the other between 23" and 27".
All recommendations for which docking station and what monitors to get are welcome and appreciated.
PS: this is not for gaming.
Have a great day.

Since that laptop apparently has no docking port, a usb hub is the only option.

That's the one example HP makes. Built-in usb-ethernet, usb gpu and audio.
For monitors, I'd say stick to 1080p max.
I'm currently using 27" and 24" 1080p monitors, HP 27vx and Dell u2414H that share similar look (no chunky big bezels). -
Oddly enough it does have a docking port. Perhaps a special government build? not sure but at work it is on a docking station ultraslim. Just trying to see my options.
Thanks! -

Is laptop that one? I mean, I don't see the dock port there so I figured it was left out.
Slim docking station has only one model I believe and it docks on the right hand side of the laptop.
Bottom dock connector type has two docking stations, basic and advanced.
All of those support at least two monitors, so your most important need is covered no matter what model you buy.
I actually got this in addition to docking station:
It lifts the laptop nicely off the table (more room for 'stuff' underneath...) and rises the 24" monitor a bit higher to be on the same level as 27". My laptop supports only 2 external monitors, so I keep the lid closed. -
That's a nice setup, where is the 24" monitor goes? do you have a link to for the stand? -
There are different model numbes over the years, here is couple

They are made by Ergotron, so quality gear. I think Dell has similar product in their lineup too.
It is rather expensive, I got lucky and came across a local shop selling a new one with huge discount. It was probably a pricing error but I got it anyways.
Monitor is connected with VESA mount and the docking station attaches to those pins you can see. Those two teeth at front are spring loaded, so they clamp the laptop/dock firmly in place.
Docking station and monitors recommendation for workstation
